You know from their nice orange colour that both oranges and peaches pack a good dose of beta-carotene and vitamin C. This means you’ll get a load of antioxidants when sipping on this pretty peach smoothie as well as be protecting your eyes, lungs and skin.
Peaches are best in the summer when they are in season and super-ripe. Just the thought of biting into a sweet, juicy peach makes my mouth water (power of the mind, BTW).
Sometimes, when my peaches are fully ripe and I can’t get through them all, I just cut them into chunks and freeze them on a cookie sheet. Once they’re frozen, I pop them into a ziplock bag so they’re ready for smoothies like this one.
Typically, I add leafy greens, but I wanted to switch things up with this one and keep it closer to its peachy colour, so I went with zucchini. Plus, variety is so important to make sure you’re covering your bases with all the different vitamins and minerals available in different foods.
Adding the oats for soluble fibre give this smoothie added cholesterol lowering and blood sugar stabilizing benefits and also makes it a little creamy. If you want, you can always add cooked oats in there as well.
