Honey Mustard Hemp Dressing

Ah, hemp seeds.

You can call them hemp hearts if you want, but the real question is: are you eating them? Are you blending them?

You should be. Hemp seeds are amazing for so many reasons. I’ll list just a few here.

But before I do, I will tell you that I always have hemp seeds on hand. I keep ’em in the fridge and add those little superseeds to my salads, into my smoothies, soups and, when I’m feeling sassy, I blend them into a creamy dressing or sauce as I’ve done here with this Honey Mustard Hemp Dressing.

It’s an easy, healthy way to up your fibre, protein, Omega 3s, minerals and hemp seeds are really easy to digest. No soaking required.

Hemp comes from the cannabis plant, but it is not marijuana . Hemp seeds contain only a trace amount of the psychoactive substance called THC (short for: tetrahydrocannibanoids … the stuff that creates that “high” from marijuana.). Hemp is not marijuana and will not get you high…unless making dairy-free dressing gets you high.

Hemp seeds are a superfood, if you ask me.

Hemp seeds are rich in essential fatty acids and have a particularly beneficial ratio of Omega 3s to Omega 6s which is a key to lowering inflammation throughout the body and helping to balance hormones. They’re full of fibre so help you feel full and keep you going (in all departments 🙂 Also full of the potent antioxidant Vitamin E and lots of magnesium and zinc which we all need more of. Hemp seeds are also a complete protein containing all 9 essential amino acids. Is there nothing hemp can’t do?

I like to add a couple of tbsp to my smoothies, but in this recipe, there’s a whole CUP of those suckers in here. It’s a dressing recipe that requires no extra oil. Fun!

I just added my Honey Mustard Hemp to a simple salad of mixed greens, chopped green onions, strawberries and sunflower seeds for a quick, pretty lunch. This creamy dressing actually firms up a bit in the fridge making it an ideal sandwich spread, veggie dip or sauce for your dinner of choice. I’ve actually been tossing it into my pasta and rice dishes too.

Just when you though honey mustard dressing couldn’t get any better…just go ahead and add hemp.

You’re going to love this and your body and salad will thank you for it.

Keeps in a sealed, air-tight container in the fridge 5 days.
